Male Perinatal Mental Health

Peak time for men to develop postnatal depression is 3 to 6 months following the birth, but some symptoms can come anytime in the first few years of being a dad

signs to look for may include 1 or more of these symptoms

  • Insomnia
  • Fear/Panic
  • Feelings of helplessness
  • Uncertainty about the future
  • Withdrawal from family life/work and social events
  • Indecisiveness
  • Frustration
  • Anger
  • Increased alcohol use
  • Drug use
  • Partner conflict
  • Physical symptoms : headaches, nausea, indigestion, changes in appetite
