About Family Groups

Homestart Family Groups – Stay and Play sessions for all the family

N.B Groups run during school term time only

Our Family Groups are a place where:

  • Families can meet other families to talk, share ideas and find support.

  • Children have a safe and stimulating place to play

  • Parents can explore play and craft activities with their children.

  • Children can enjoy a light snack and drink. We encourage children to sit at the table when eating and drinking for health and safety reasons, also to promote social skills

When at the group please:-

  • Be aware of your child’s behaviour and safety – you are responsible for your child(ren) at all times.

  • If you need to leave the room, please ask someone to look after your child(ren)

  • Don’t smack! – Home Start encourages parents to use appropriate forms of discipline other than smacking, and can offer help and support with this.

  • Don’t swear! – be aware that children are around and may be listening!

  • Respect the no smoking policy of the venue.

Poorly Children

Sick children, children with infections such as conjunctivitis, chicken pox, head lice, flu like symptoms, sickness and diarrhoea should not be brought to Family Group, due to the risk of passing on infection to others within the Group.
